Why does my hamster shake his head when I pet his forehead? Is it normal?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Hamster | Male | unneutered | 1 year old

Why does my hamster shake or vibrate his head when I pet him on his forehead? I don't think the petting him hurts him but this doesn't happen before. Thanks

Thanks for reaching out. This could be a reaction to pleasure or discomfort but would suspect discomfort would be more persistent. Monitor for now but if continues, a veterinary visit is recommended.
Good luck.
