My guinea pig has watery poop and pain. Vet is out, what to do?

Pet's info: Exotic | Unknown - Exotic | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 3 months old

Yesterday evening Bob had deformed poops....I checked its genitals to ensure whether he has any blockage.... But it was completely normal ... Today morning I saw him his poops were watery n smell ........I checked his genital again and it appeared somewhat pinkish red.... N I think he is in pain.... ..he is still eating but I'm worried....... The vet is out of town ...and I can only meet him tomorrow....... Plzzzzz suggest some remedies so that I can keep him completely OK till tomorrow

If the stools are watery then Bob is suffering from a gastrointestinal infection, which can be quite severe in guinea pigs and requires antibiotic treatment. the only supplement you can get in the meantime that may help is a fiber supplement called "fibreflex" you may be able to find it in pet stores.

A diet change or addition of new fruits/veggies or treats can affect the stool in guinea pigs. A veterinarian can run tests to rule out gastrointestinal parasites or a bacterial overgrowth and perform a physical exam to make sure that your guinea pigs are not dehydrated, are in good body condition, do not have maloccluded teeth, etc. However in the meantime I would recommend ordering Oxbow critical care overnight from Amazon.com or finding it possibly at a local pet store, mixing with water and syringe feeding plus offering it in a bowl in addition to their regular chow for ay least 3 days. If you don't see an improvement in the stool, I'd recommend calling around for lower cost options such as veterinary care from a local ASPCA, etc.

This can be caused by parasites, dietary indiscretion or poor diet. Submit a stool sample to your veterinarian to diagnose intestinal parasites. Treat if indicated. Discontinue feeding any fruits or vegetables for now. Feed only timothy hay and a small amount of pellets daily. Once the stool is normal, you can gradually offer tiny bits of vegetables. Limit fruit though to prevent diarrhea or obesity.

Mushy stools is not a good sign in guinea pigs, it usually indicates a gastrointestinal condition and it needs to be treated ASAP so it doesn't get any worse. i would strongly recommend taking him to the vet a soon as you can in order to get treated.

I'm sorry Ginger isn't feeling well. There are many causes for diarrhea/loss of appetite in guinea pigs. Most of these are easily treated and include intestinal parasites, bacterial infections, or improper diet. If Ginger has a pelleted diet, she should also have access to hay and leafy vegetables. Unfortunately, the only way to diagnose Ginger is with a veterinary exam, which would potentially include a fecal exam, blood work, and some x-rays. I hope this helps!

I am sorry to hear about your guinea pig. It sounds like she definitely needs veterinary attention. There could be many different causes for her symptoms, ranging from infections, GI stasis, and dental issues. I would get her to the vet as soon as possible. In the meantime you can soak some guinea pig pelleted food in water and blenderize it, then use an eye dropper or syringe without a needle to try to feed Caramel to provide some calories.

Why does my guinea pig cry at pellets & get soft poop from veggies?

Make sure brownie has plenty of fresh grass hay such as Timothy hay as the majority of his diet. He will also need some supplementation with vitamin C powder's or liquid and the fresh fruits and veggies. On a balanced diet he shouldn't be having soft stools so you may just need to decrease the portion size of his fresh foods.
