My rabbit escaped the backyard. What should I do to find my lost pet?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Other | Unknown - Other | Male

I was outside with the bunny in the backyard and then i found out he disappeared even though the whole entire backyard was blocked except for my neighbor's fence where it had a hole that i didn't notice. I was never told that there was a hole. I wished i saw it first. Any help, etc...?

Oh no, I'm sorry you lost Boston Bunnelby (I love his name)! I would go over to your neighbor's house to see if you can search their backyard for him. I would search other neighbor's yards as well, but hopefully he's just over next door. If you cannot find him, I would make a post on social media with a picture of him letting people know he's missing, you can put flyers up in your neighborhood and in your neighbor's mailboxes, and you can notify local vet clinics and the SPCA that he's missing in case someone turns in a rabbit. I hope this helps and you find him!

How lovely of you to take in this poor lost bunny! If you have a rabbit hutch, I would set the bunny up in it for now, and feed it. In case you don't know, I will put a link below on what to feed a bunny. Then I would contact local vet clinics in the morning to let them know you found a bunny in case anyone is looking for him. I'd also contact the local SPCA. You can make posts on social media as well to see if you can find his owner. Finally, you can knock on your neighbor's doors to see if anyone is missing a bunny. Best of luck, I hope this helps!
