My female mouse is scared of new mice. What should I do now?

I am sorry to hear about your mice! If they are still fighting you can try putting them in cages directly next to eachother or place one in a smaller cage inside the larger cage to allow them to smell/see eachother and get used to eachother again without the possiblity of fighting. Also adding another feeding bowl and water bottle to provide several locations for resources so less likelihood of competition may help.

Your friend’s mice were probably just startled for some reason when you approached them today. I would recommend that you continue to engage and interact with them regularly to help gain their trust. The mice are in a relatively new environment and are probably very prone to stress. I would also recommend separating the pregnant mouse from the other two mice. Her pregnancy and birth can be very stressful and so anything you can do to help relieve her anxieties/stress would be good for her. I hope this helps. Mice can be very aggressive and they cannot always be kept together in captivity, it's not about the food, it could be that the cage is too small or just one very aggressive individual that is starting the all thing every time, you need to separate them completely.

I would recommend for you to take both mice into the store where they were purchased and ask someone to look at both mice to tell you if you got a female by mistake. Mice reproduce VERY quickly so you need to know this asap. If you infect have a female, the pet store may offer to take the babies. I would also recommend to keep males separate from females and to have pairs of mice so they keep each other company. Best of Luck with Patches!

WIth some patience and training, they may be able to get along. Consider a pheromone product, such as the Adaptil Collar or DAP plug in diffusers, to decrease any anxiety or aggression in the home. If you have cats, use Feliway Spray or plug in diffusers. You didn't specify the species in the post. Keep them separate, then gradually introduce (or re-introduce) them. First, allow them to hear and smell one another through a closed door. As they progress, you can allow them to see one another but without physical contact. Correct any aggressive or negative behavior immediately. The next step would be to place one of them in a closed carrier and leave them in the same room. Do this for ever increasing periods of time until they are acclimated. Finally, allow short, supervised playtime. Be consistent and praise/reward good behavior. Separate them if they get "rowdy" until they settle down, then reintroduce them.

The other female mouse might eat the babies, so I would separate the mice if she does have babies. Best of luck with your little ones!

Hello. Your bunnies are adorable! It’s good that they are spayed and neutered, as this should help your efforts to bond them. I’d recommend to give them ample space to retreat and feel safe when they’re together and always supervise them during the transition until the relationship is more secure. One way to start the process would be to feed each rabbit on either side of a baby gate or other divider that allows them to sniff and see each other. Provide ample hay, greens and pellets on each side of the gate so they’re spending a good amount of time near each other as they eat. After several days to a week of peaceful eating, remove the gate but keep the food the same. Monitor them closely during this time for signs of fear or aggression and separate them quickly if you see this. If there is a favorite treat, only give that out when they’re together so there is a positive association of being with the other rabbit. However, just like people, rabbits are individuals and may not get along no matter what we do. Be prepared for this possibility and don’t force it. While rabbits tend to be peaceful animals, they certainly can fight and when they do it can be serious.
