My older ferret dislikes my new baby ferret. How do I bond them?

It could take Lyla a few weeks to get use to her new surroundings. I would make sure she is in a low stress location in the house. Also, allow her to have some space she can get away and relax. I recommend finding a special treat only you or your boyfriend gives her. that way she starts to look forward to you being around.

Ferrets are social little animals, so they tend to get along with each other rather well. However, there are occasionally some anti-social ferrets that tend to fight with other ferrets. You also have to watch for bullying behavior, which can happen when a bigger ferret is around small ones. I recommend introducing them in a neutral territory (definitely not in the cage) like a room, or a temporary play pen. You should be observe them the whole time and stop any aggressive behavior. If all goes well with the first introduction (two or more hours), then you can experiment with giving them access to Daisy's cage and see if there is any problems there. The introductions should be mostly hands-off unless you are breaking up a fight. Let the ferrets find each other and interact with each other in their own way. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! So that is a little but if a tricky question, as some ferrets do better as “only” pets and some do well with a playmate. Another male ferret would be a fine idea, and you can start by getting them used to each other by housing their cages next to each other to allow them to get used to each other without touching. This can then progress to supervised play periods together outside their cages to ensure that they will get along. Good luck!

If you’re going to do this, hold onto your ferret at all times to pull him out of harms reach if needed. If your puppy is particularly exhuberant, it might be a good idea to have a friend or family member hold on to his collar while you hold the ferret. I would recommend giving rose more time. It can take weeks for them to warm up to people. I recommend making sure you have a safe, stress free environment to help allow Rose to relax and be less stressed. Also, I would try to find a treat that Rose really loves and only you give her. This way she gets excited to interact with you.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Oh my goodness your fur babies are adorable!! I recommend introducing them while Mack is young. He will be a very large dog when full grown. It is best he learns how to behave with with ferrets now, so he gets used to them. I would have Mack on a leash at all times when the ferrets are out. This is a great time to teach Mack how to "leave it" when he attempts to chase or mouth the ferrets.Knowing now, rather than later, that he will be aggressive or violent with them will give you time to fix the behavior or to avoid their interactions. Ferrets can be very scared when brought into a new home. I would make sure that Major has a nice cage to give him room to play and hide. After a few days of him getting use to his cage you can allow him to play out side the cage with supervision. I would recommend trying to find a treat that he really likes and have you be the only person that gives it to him. That way he associates something yummy with you. The most important step is to move slowly but most of the time Major will start to relax. I hope that helps
