My tortoise has nose bubbles. Is it a respiratory infection? What to do?

It sounds like your tortoise has an upper respiratory tract infection. I would recommend taking her to a veterinarian that is comfortable treating reptiles. Sounds like she has an upper respiratory infection (URI). You need to get her to a reptile vet as soon as you can. She will need antibiotics to get this to clear up. Many tortoises get URI if they get too cold when they are hibernating. That is my best guess as to what happened here. You definitely need a vet that is used to treating reptiles. I am sorry that Kai isn't feeling well. From what you are describing, he may have a respiratory infection - this could be isolated to his upper respiratory system (nose and trachea/windpipe) or it could also be involving the lower respiratory system as well (lungs, such as pneumonia). I would recommend taking Kai to a veterinarian for evaluation. They can perform an examination, and may recommend taking radiographs (x-rays) to see what his lungs look like. They may also collect some of the fluid to evaluate for bacterial populations to see if there is an infection. They can then prescribe treatments depending on what they find - these may include antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medications. Please do not give Kai any human medications at home, as many of these can be harmful for our scaly friends. I hope that this gives you a place to start, and that Kai feels better very soon.

Have Peechu examined by an experienced herp veterinarian. She may have a respiratory infection. If left untreated, it can progress to pneumonia which can be deadly. Check the temps and humidity in her enclosure. Low temps can stress her and high humidity can cause respiratory infection.

Allow to soak in a shallow, clean room temperature water for 1-2 hours twice daily, monitor to avoid drowning. Hi there. Yes, it does sound like Scooter has an upper respiratory infection but there is no way to be sure without an exam. You can use Azithromycin orally but you need to get the dosing correct. The dose is 10 mg/kg every 48 hours. If you want help with dosing then please post again with the tortoise's weight and the milligram strength of the Azithromycin you have. Of course, this is not recommended. We really don't condone treating empirically with antibiotics without knowing what you are treating. It would be best to get her to a vet for an exam to be 100% sure of the diagnosis and to get the properly dosed medications. I would also recommend nebulizing her by putting her in the bathroom and closing the door with a hot shower running. The steam may help clear her lungs. Finally, review all your husbandry and be sure it's correct. Usually respiratory infections happen due to incorrect husbandry (diet, heating, light, etc). I hope this helps. Best wishes.
