My fire skink hasn't eaten in a month. Is its tank setup wrong?

I have a fire skink who's supposed to be a 'voracious eater' I have not seen it eat . I've had her for a month and keep and a number of crickets in her tank . She doesn't appear malnourished but like I said earlier I've never seen her eat.

Often times when our reptile friends are not eating or acting normally, it is due to their husbandry not being completely perfect for them. Common culprits that need addressed are temperature, lighting, humidity, and cage furniture. I would recommend consulting a care sheet to ensure that all parameters are acceptable for this species. I recommend using digital thermometers and hygrometers as they are more accurate than analog ones are.
For the crickets that you are offering - I do not recommend leaving prey items in with reptiles, as they can injure the reptile.
Additionally, I would recommend having your skink evaluated by a veterinarian. They can expand on the husbandry recommendations above, and can perform a thorough exam of your skink. They may also recommend diagnostic testing, such as blood work and radiographs (x-rays), to look at your skink’s overall systemic health.

Gut load prey for 24 hours prior to offering. Dust appropriately with vitamins and minerals regularly. He may also benefit from a soak in a warm 50/50 solution of water and unflavored PediaLyte. If his appetite does not return after adjustments to environment and diet, have him examined by your veterinarian or a vet experienced in treating reptiles. Submit a stool sample to diagnose intestinal parasites or bacterial overgrowth.

Often when a reptile doesn’t want to eat, it is a sign that they don’t feel well. The most common reason behind them not feeling well is imperfections in their husbandry and diet. I would recommend consulting an online care sheet to ensure that your husbandry is as perfect as possible. Common areas of imperfection include temperature, lighting, and humidity. I would also recommend having Ash seen by a veterinarian, as they can help to counsel you about Ash’s husbandry as well. Thanks for reaching out a about Flapjack. There are multiple reasons for anorexia including intestinal parasites/infections, metabolic disease (liver, kidney), malnutrition, poor husbandry, stress and others. Check husbandry first, as uromastyx like it hot. You can try offering a meat flavored baby food via a syringe to give calories, and also to offer water. A veterinary visit is needed to assess Flapjack and provide a diagnostic/treatment plan. Good luck.

Since this has been going on a long time, a veterinary visit is recommended to assess and provide diagnostic/treatment plan. Try offering water and food via a syringe prior to the vet appointment. Intestinal infections or parasites, metabolic disorders (liver, kidney), other infections and more are all possible. Good luck.

He is likely suffering some degree of nutritional deficiency. He should be examined by an experienced herp veterinarian. Blood work may diagnose calcium deficiency. Submit a stool sample to diagnose intestinal parasites. Calcium injections, deworming and subcutaneous fluids may all be indicated. He should be eating a varied diet including kingworms, crickets and larger prey such as pinky or fuzzy mice. Adequate heat is necessary for proper digestion. Keep daytime temperature between 85 F and 95 F. Nighttime temps can be set about 10 degrees lower. A UVB light source should also be provided to maximize calcium metabolism and utilization. .
