Is my crested gecko eating too many crickets? Can I feed separately?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Lyra will eat TONS of crickets if I let her. Should I feed her as many as she wants? If I should limit it, how many crickets should I feed her and how often? (Lyra will eat around 5 every day, sometimes 7). Also, is it a must to put them in her vivarium? Can I put the cricket and Lyra into a plastic box type thing instead? (I'm a bit scittish when it comes to insects. So if I put a cricket in the cage, whenever I open it I would be a bit scaird..) (Btw, I will put a picture of the plastic box)

Crestview can eat crickets, but feeding solely crickets is not a healthy or balanced diet. At most, feed 5-7 appropriately sized crickets twice a week. The majority of the diet should be a crested gecko diet, such as one from Pangea or Repashy.
If she doesn't get stressed being moved, you can feed her in a separate container if that is easier for you.
