My crested gecko dropped its tail after a cat attack. Neosporin?

If the tip of Tar's tail fell off, you need to take her into the vet immediately. That white string may actually be bone, and the tail needs to be sutured. Neosporin will not help her, please take her into a vet right away, this is a medical emergency.

It could be some dead skin. Leave it be for now. Do not pull on it. Keep the stump clean and dry. You can use a diluted Betadine or chlorhexidine (Hibiclens) solution to gently clean it once or twice a day. Dry thoroughly afterwards and keep him on paper towels until he heals. Do not use any sand or wood chips or gravel which can stuck to the stump and introduce infection. You can dab some triple antibiotic ointment on it after cleaning. Keep him warm and as stress free as possible.

You will need to see a vet as it will likely need amputation past the infected part to get to healthy tissue. The skin is growing into the side instead or around the tip and the surgery can correct that and have it healed quickly. It is safe to put regular neosporin on it but do not let her lick it and you can keep it clean with soap and water until you get her seen

I would not recommend applying neosporin without the direct prescription from your vet. Cats are prone to grooming and ingesting ointments and can have significant side effects. Antibiotic dreams will not improve healing in healthy wounds and should not be used unless the wound has an infection, in which case oral or injectable medications are usually preferred

Poor guy. You can try a very small amount of Neosporin on this wound and clean it daily with sterile saline. However, if it doesn't heal well then a trip to your vet for antibiotics is needed. You can try applying Neosporin and giving it time. Unfortunately, tip of the tail injuries like this can be very difficult to heal since there is not much tissue or a very good blood supply to the very tip of a cat's tail. Sometimes they are licking it to clean even when you don't see, which will significantly slow healing. If it doesn't appear to be healing in a few days, then your kitty should get checked out by a vet. Sometimes we need to amputate the tip of the tail so that we can close healthy tissue over the bone to aid with healing.

You need to take him to your veterinarian or a vet experienced in treating reptiles. A cat bite can lead to serious infection which should be treated. Pain medication may also be indicated. There isn't much you can do at home except to maintain hydration and proper environmental parameters. Veterinary care is strongly recommended.
