Should a betta fish filter run continuously in a 1-gallon tank?

If I have a 1-gallon tank for 1 betta fish how long do I keep my filter on? My filter is GPH is adjustable.

The filter should remain on all the time. That is mainly what keeps the water clean. You should still perform weekly partial water changes, no more than 30% total volume. Since the filter is adjustable, turn it down to the lowest setting. Bettas do best in slow moving water.
