Can my 7-month Yorkie get multiple vaccines at the same time?

Great question! Heartgard can safely be given to puppies as young as six weeks of age, so it's fine to give it to her now. You don't need to wait for two weeks after her 4th vaccine, there's no problem with them being given together. It is recommended to wait at least two weeks between vaccines for different vaccines, so yes I would wait for two weeks after her 4th vaccine to get her rabies. It would be fine to give both at the same time in my opinion but it would be at the discretion of your veterinarian. The timing of when to go depends on her last vaccine. You can do either. Many pets are given all those vaccines at once and they do fine but you are correct that this does increase the likelihood of a vaccine reaction. If you want to be cautious, then separating the vaccines by a week is a good idea. It's never hurts to be cautious. I hope this helps.

I recommends spacing them out, doing distemper/parvo, bordetalla, canine influenza one day, and then 10 days later doing lepto and rabies. If it was given later than four weeks after the first vaccine, he will need booster vaccines within a 2 to 4 week window. Assuming he was given the vaccines at the appropriate time, Kai should get another DHLPP and a rabies vaccine. If he gets groomed, goes to the park or has contact with other dogs in general, you may consider getting a kennel cough vaccine. Other vaccines are for Lyme disease and Influenza (dog flu). Your local veterinarian can discuss if these diseases are present in your area and what potential risk factors exist. You may be able to find lower cost vaccinations at a low-cost vaccine clinic or a vaccine clinic in general. You can generally find information online. For small dogs, I generally do recommend to separate vaccines by a few weeks. This will decrease the chances of a vaccine reaction. You can also give the pups diphenhydramine prior to the vaccines to further decrease reaction rates. Definitely discuss these options with your veterinarian. Possible side effects of vaccines are vomiting, diarrhea, facial swelling, lethargy and collapse. If your pups exhibit any of these afterwards, be sure to have them seen immediately. The vast majority of pets are fine with vaccines however and reactions are rare. Most vets vaccinate based up risks associated with life style and the diseases found in your area. I recommend to have a conversation about risk factors for your pups but I suspect they are present if your vet is recommending these vaccines. Clear communication however is always best. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Rio is super cute, congrats! I recommend Hill's, Royal Canin, Purina or Iams. I would call your local Petco to see what they offer. Here is what needs to happen: bring a stool sample and any records you were given to your first Vet visit, Rio will get his next DHPP vaccine 3-4 weeks after his first one was given by the breeder. If the breeder did not start his vaccines he needs to start them by 7-8 weeks of age. Petco will start them for you and tell you when you need to return. They get about 3-4 DHPP vaccines 3-4 weeks apart. The Rabies vaccine is given around 4 months of age, depending on the laws in your county. I hope this helps and I wish you and Rio the best!
