What are the best vet-recommended dog dental chews for fresh breath?

Hi there! I'm so thrilled to hear you're interested in helping Rocky with good dental hygiene! I encourage my clients to use products like Oravet dental hygiene chews or Virbac CET Veggie Sticks. Products like Clenzadent are also available as a sort of mouth rise to help with your pet's bad breath. The best thing, of course is a full dental under anesthesia to get the teeth free of excess calculus, but I understand this is more invasive than chews. Hi there and thank you for using Pet Coach! Here is a list of the products I typically recommend: 1. CET oral rinse 2. CET enzymatic toothpaste 3. Oravet chews 4. Plaque off 5. CET chlorhexidine chews Not all of these will work but I have had some mixed success using all of these. My favorite is the Oravet chew as it employs an additive known as Delmopinol to prevent tartar formation. Oravet chews are only available in veterinary clinics so you may have a hard time finding this one online. All of the other products you can find online. I hope this helps! Daily brushing with a pet approved tooth paste and toothbrush and dental chews are more effective than a water additive. When looking at dental products, search for the VOHC (Veterinary Oral Health Council) seal of approval. Yes absolutely! I highly recommend the Virbac dental chews that are almost half the price as the Oravet, and they really do work! I use these on my own pets. Because Korbyn is fairly young, it will be possible to train him to accept having his teeth brushed by providing plenty of praise and treats during the process. Treats can also be given to supplement brushing, you should look for treats that have enzymatic properties as well as ones that take a while to chew, as this action strengthens the jaw and removes tartar.
