My unspayed dog is protective, snapping, and treating toys like pups?

Yes, this sounds like a false pregnancy but if in any doubt i recommend an ultrasound scan to rule out full pregnancy . Most cases will pass over time but if she is very distressed and refuses to ear then hormonal therapy can be used to reverse the condition. It is recommended to neuter before or breed at the next cycle as most likely this will recur

That will stop this behavior. Not only that but spaying decreases the risks of mammary cancer and uterine infections (pyometra) both of which can be life threatening. There is really no treatment you can do for this at home. Usually these episodes last 2-3 weeks. If it lasts longer than that you should get her examined by your vet. The other option is that she is in pain somewhere in/on her body. A vet exam to rule out any pain would be a good idea. Pain can make them "grouchy". The final thing it could be, is just her personality, in which case, you should not breed her and you should work with a professional, in-home dog trainer to correct this behavior before it gets worse.
