How can I stop my puppy from playing too rough and injuring my cat?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 3 months and 20 days old | 104 lbs

How can I get my puppy and cat to get along/ at least be around each other without my puppy almost injuring my cat? My cat is very young still so she likes to play but anytime their "playing" pilot will have her whole head in his mouth, or try an bite her paws or tail!

If your puppy is young, you will have to monitor their play sessions until you feel confident that your cat is not going to get injured. Usually, cats will warn dogs when the play is getting too rough for comfort, but this can take time for both animals to figure out.
