How to stop my two dogs from barking and whining when crated alone?

I would recommend placing the crates in different rooms and also putting them in for short periods during the day such as at mealtimes/for chew treats so they become acclimatised to spending quiet time on their own in the crates and do not have such frought reactions when separated physically but not visually at night time. A certified behaviorist would also be worth considering to deal both with the anxiety at crating and also the agressive behaviors

Don't ever use it for punishment. * If the 2 dogs get along well, consider this-- I know it doesn't sound fair, because you've had your other dog for a long time, but if your other dog used to go in a crate, I would set one up for her as well. keep them side by side, leave them both open as described above, and when you leave the house or want to crate them at night, crate both dogs. If you talk to Sienna when she is whining, or if you let her out of the crate, or even yell at her to be quiet (because negative attention is better to a dog than none), she will continue this behavior. If you ignore her completely when she whines, she will learn that this behavior no longer gets the attention she wants, and she will stop. Just be sure all of her physical needs have been met before you crate her. Also, be prepared for an increase in her fussing temporarily if you have been responding to her at all), because what she was doing is not working anymore, so she may feel the need to "up the ante" to get a reaction from you.
