Best food for 2-month Shih Tzu puppy & how often should I bathe?

Congratulations on your new pet! It is not recommended to bathe a pup less than 3 monmths of age. You can use plain, unscented baby wipes or pet wipes to spot clean her as needed. Feed a good quality puppy food. Stay away from store or discount brands as these typically contain low quality ingredients and more fillers. The breeder may give you a bag of food to go home with. If Blush eats it, does well on it and it is easy for you to get then stick with it. If you need to change diets, do it gradually, over the course of 7-10 days, to prevent gastrointestinal upset. Try to avoid switching diets frequently to avoid creating a picky eater. She should not need vitamin supplementation if she is eating a quality puppy food. Dogs have similar tolerances for temperature that we do. If it is too cold fo ryou inside, it is too cold for her. Air conditioning should be tolerable for her. You can start crate training her or wee wee pad trainign her as soon as you get home. If you use a crate, it should be just big enough for her to stand, turn around and lay down. Start a schedule for bathroom breaks. She should go out first thing in the morning, after naps, about 20-30 minutes after eating or playing and just before bedtime. She will likely need to go out one or two times during the night as well. Choose one spot in your yard and allow her to use it. She can go outside in your yard. She should not be exposed to dogs of unknown vaccine statuse until about 2 weeks after she receives her last vaccine.

8 weeks old is the minimum age to begin bathing a puppy. Use a pet approved shampoo for puppies sensitive skin. She can be bathed every 6-8 weeks. However, on average you will feed a puppy 3 times a day and for a small breed dog it will be around 1/8-1/4 cup each feeding. At 5 weeks of age your puppy should still be with its mother, nursing occassionally and eating puppy chow. At 6-8 weeks she can be completely weaned and on puppy food only. I would recommend a large breed puppy food from Hills, Royal Canin, or Purina. You should check her weight regularly and feed her the amount listed on the back of the bag that is appropriate for her weight. The amount to be fed can vary greatly between brands so a general amount can’t be given. As far as bathing goes, you can bathe her with a gentle shampoo, like aloe and oatmeal, once every 2 weeks or so. Just be sure she is nice and dry before she goes outside in the colder temperatures. I would stay away from blue buffalo. I have never had good experience with their foods. I have seen a lot of dog become overweight, develop pancreatitis, and have a lot of urinary issues with this food. Little Caesars is also not a great food. Royal canin and science diet are both good foods. I am not super familiar with well core but I also haven't heard anything bad about their foods. I do not think she needs to be a on grain free unless she is having bad food allergy issues. Also, I would consider putting her a fish oil or an omega 3 fatty acid supplementation if she has a lot of flakey and isn't greasy. I like vetriscience 369 supplementation. I hope this helps!

You definitely don't want to bath Tison too often because that can strip his skin of it's natural oils and dry it out. Typically it's not recommended to bath them more than once a month, but you can do more if he's very dirty. Brush out the dirt to avoid a bath, but he should not be bathed more than once a week. As for his coat appearing dull, that can be due to diet so make sure that he is fed a high quality puppy formulated food such as Royal Canin, Hill's Science diet, Purina ProPlan, or Iams.
