My Maltese was shaved for fleas. Should I shave my Jack Russell?

An electric shaver is safe, but removing hair in one area of a dog won't help you get rid of the fleas. I promise, they are all over him! Chase needs to be on a good quality monthly flea preventative. Bathing will help remove fleas that are currently on him, but it won't prevent new ones from hatching in days or weeks. Bathing will also decrease the efficacy of topical flea preventatives. I would recommend having Chase examined by a vet so he can be started on an oral flea preventative. It may take up to 3 months to completely rid your house of fleas. Allergies, metabolic disease, skin infection, hair coat thinning due to temperature change, etc. are all possibilities. I would recommend using a shampoo such as Douxo PS Calm shampoo. Apoquel does not work well when there is a bacterial or fungal skin infection, so it is possible she has developed an infection secondary to allergies. Fleas or an endocrine disease like Cushing's are two other possibilities. I would recommend seeing your veterinarian - they might recommend some testing or starting treatment for an infection after they are able to examine Jazz's skin.

Hello, you can retreat him now and keep him off the water for atleast 5 days. You’ll need to continue to treat your house and deep clean for atleast a month. Other oral preventatives you can try are nexguard. Hope this helps and best of luck
