Senior dog having seizures, can't afford vet. What are my options?

I'm very sorry to hear that your dog has epilepsy! If he has severe or frequent seizures, then he definitely does need to be on prescription medication to help control them. Legally, we cannot prescribe medication for any pet without first doing an in-person exam, so this is not something that can be done over the internet. So I'm afraid there's really no alternative except to take him to a veterinarian in your area to be seen, so he can be started on medication to help control the seizures.  Brown Dog Foundation provides funding to families with a sick pet that would likely respond to treatment, but due to circumstances, there is not enough money immediately available to pay. IMOM is dedicated to insure that no companion animal has to be euthanized simply because their caretaker is financially challenged. I hope one of these resources helps you afford a vet for Lulu. I'm so sorry to hear that Lilly has developed seizures. Seizures in dogs can be fatal if not treated. There are a huge number of newer anti-convulsant drugs that are much safer than some of the older ones (and even a new diet). I always tell people that old age is not a disease. Seizures and their side effects are much more likely to kill Lilly than any of the medications that your vet might prescribe. I think it is worth having your vet examine her and discuss the treatment options. Hopefully your vet can put your parents' minds at ease about the medication and make Lilly feel better. These are extremely long seizures, i am surprised your dog is still alive with those very long seizures. seizures can be caused by many diseases but the vast majority of dogs with seizures is from an unknown reason. treatment for seizures is usually the same for all dogs, it's a medication that needs to be taken on a daily basis, this medication can only be prescribed by a vet.
