Why won't my senior dog walk on walks and tuck his tail?

First I would have Harry checked by your veterinarian for arthritis. Many dogs are painful even if they do not show it or appear lame. The increased exercise may be making him sore. If his joints are fine and he is comfortable try taking him for a short walk in the morning and offer treats to get him up and going for a walk in the evening. Rewarding him when he walks later in the day, especially if he's hungry, will make him look forward to those walks. Also taking him somewhere he enjoys like a special park or hike may make him more interested. If you think it's due to anxiety then I recommend trying the supplement Solliquin. It sounds like Tia is in pain, which what caused her to be subdued and walk slowly. In a senior lab, there are a couple reasons why this is happening to her. I would be most suspicious Jack is in pain. Pain can come from anywhere but the most common reasons are spine issues like pinched nerves or compressed discs, chronic pancreatitis or hip/elbow arthritis. I recommend to have Jack examined by the veterinarian since this is the only way to begin figuring out what is happening and causing him to hurt. In the mean time, you can rest him so not strenuous activity and short walks (15 minutes) only. You can also start him on a joint supplement for dogs but the main treatment will begin once you know the underlying cause. I hope this helps.

From your description, I sounds like Sammy may have several medical issues going on. It is hard to get a good idea of what all the issues may be without examining Sammy first and I would encourage that an exam be done on Sammy with his veterinarian soon to fully discuss and evaluate Sammy's conditions. Perhaps he has osteoarthritis, other degenerative joint or neurological dysfunction of his hind limbs making walking difficult and painful for him. It also sounds like he may have some vision loss or visual deficits making navigating around challenging. Lastly, the walking around in circles and defecating in the house may be related to canine cognitive dysfunction (canine dementia). He may also be experiencing some incontinence as well. Aside from the incontinence he may have from older age, there are medications and other holistic treatments that can help with the possible dementia as well as joint pain that may help make him feel a bit better and improve his quality of life.
