What is this protruding skin lump on my senior dog after squeezing?

It sounds like this is some kind of skin growth. Dogs can develop melanomas of the skin along with many other benign growths. I would recommend having your vet take a look - they might recommend taking a sample with a small needle to determine what this might be, or they might recommend going ahead and removing it.

It seems to be a skin cyst of some sort. It's very difficult for me to know without seeing it. Based on your description, you are likely seeing sebaceous cysts, comedones or possibly a wart. Either way, the actual cyst is not a big problem, but it could indicate another issue. Some conditions can cause an increased incidence of these cysts, so it's best to have your vet check out Demon and see if there is any need for concern. Poor Julie! Unfortunately without looking at it, it is difficult to say for sure what this might be. It sounds like a mass. It could be a benign tumor like a sebaceous cyst, mole, or adenoma. It could also be a malignant tumor like a mast cell tumor. I would have your vet take a look at it. Your vet will be able to take a sample from it to see if it looks suspicious of cancer if needed. They will be able to tell you if you can just keep watching it or if you should have it surgically removed. I hope this helps!

This could be a seroma from an injury, a cyst, abscess or a tumor. Cysts and abscesses need to be drained by a vet. If your vet suspects a tumor, he will do a fine needle aspirate to determine whether it is a harmless lipoma, which does not need to be removed unless it is ulcerating or bothers the dog due to its location or size, or another tumor that needs to be removed. Hello, thank you for using PetCoach. Chances are that this is a sebaceous cyst. Sebaceous cysts are usually harmless, sack-like growths with a lining that is not cancerous. In dogs, most cysts develop from hair follicles. These cysts typically appear as single, clearly defined, firm or soft lumps located in the skin or just beneath it. They are often between 0.5 to 5 centimetres in size and may sometimes have a bluish colour. A cyst can release a thick, gray-to-yellow-brown cheesy substance if it bursts. Other terms for sebaceous cysts in dogs include infundibular or follicular cysts. The lump needs to have a fine needle aspirate (FNA)/cytology to be sure of that diagnosis. Hello. It is difficult to say exactly what this is because cysts, small tumors & other benign skin growths can all look pretty similar. We do not recommend doing any squeezing on things like this because you could inadvertently introduce bacteria back into it & then you have a real problem. You should contact your veterinarian to schedule an appointment. Only after a hands-on examination can a plan be determined. One might be to just continue to watch this (without squeezing out the contents), or to remove it, send the tissues off for pathology, & make sure this is not something worrisome. Yes, this may just be a benign growth like a skin tag, but I cannot make a definitive diagnosis without seeing him in person. Any suspicious lumps should be examined by the vet. The vet can perform a test called a fine needle aspirate on it. To do this, the vet sticks a small needle into the lump to get a sample of its cells, and examines the cells on a slide under a microscope.
