My senior dog is lethargic, avoiding touch. Could it be pain?

An arthritis flare up, sore back, or soft tissue injury can be very difficult to find on an exam but can cause exactly what you are describing. Talk to your vet about doing a week or two of pain medication to see if that helps- many times it will. Best wishes to you and Mylo!

It sounds like Luka could be painful. Neck pain, back pain or stomach pain could make Luka reluctant to move around the house. While kitty litter or toilet paper could cause stomach pain if there was an obstruction it is not very likely unless Luka has also been vomiting. I would recommend seeing your veterinarian who can examine Luka and look for a source of pain.

Usually these signs are related to sudden onset of pain, very commonly spinal or abdominal pain. Yes I agree with your plan I think if the signs do not resolve spontaneously, a check up would be needed to determine underlying source of pain and treat appropriately.

I hate to hear this is happening to Dora. I recommend to look for more exotic causes like tick borne disease and retest her for autoimmune disease. Make sure radiographs were taken of her chest, spine and neck. A painful lesion in the back/neck or heart conditions could all look like this. Work closely with your veterinarian. You may also look into thyroid levels and Addison's Disease. I hope you get a diagnosis soon!

I am so sorry to hear that Daisy is sick. Lethargy can be a symptom of many different problems. However, at her age I worry about things like kidney failure, liver disease, and cancer. I would highly encourage you to have her evaluated by your veterinarian as soon as possible. Many problems can be treated if caught early, but if you wait too long they can be life threatening. Poor Bodie. Sometimes when they are showing these odd signs, they are in pain. It could be his neck or back hurting. Since this is so unusual for him, I would have your vet do a thorough exam on him to help figure out what is causing this weird behavior before it gets any worse. Nausea is possible by I would excpect excessive licking of the lips or drooling excessively and not willin to eat much. If you think it could be anxiety, you could try acalming collar like adaptil. Lack of energy can be the sign of many things that go from just being tired to actually representing a problem like due to pain for example. If he is otherwise fine, I recommend you keep a close eye on him for now.
