What activities can I do with my senior dog who won't play with toys?

She is likely a very chilled dog who is more used to interacting in a calm manner with humans. If she doesnt want to play i would just let her do her own thing. She will probably appreciate a bit of fuss from you though.

You could try to give her a Kong filled with treats or other types of toys that that dispense treats when playing with. You can even freeze the Kong with a peanut butter/ treat mixture so it takes longer for the dog to eat.

It could be either situation - some dogs are simply not that interested in toys or in playing, similar to how some dogs are not big chewers or don't particularly love to go on walks. It's also possible that she wasn't exposed to toys and never 'learned' how to play. You could focus on other ways to interact with her - perhaps she would excel at simple obedience training, or she may like snuggling under a blanket with you.

Many dogs never play with toys. Try some puzzle toys or a treat ball. He'll be rewarded when he figures out how to get the hidden treat. Lots of play, walking, teach her tricks, obedience training, consider getting her a puzzle feeder so she has to 'work' for treats or even her meals. Get her involved in agility, flyball or some other group activity if she gets along with other dogs. Taking her to a dog park is another way to help her socialize and be mentally and physically stimulated without having to get another pet.
