Toby just bit my friend in the face and she now has a small Scratch on her nose. He is very afraid of other people besides me as he is a rescue dog and has only been with me for about a month. I do not know to teach him biting is wrong and feel terrible for my friend. She was leaning to him to give him a kiss, but she had done it before with no bad reaction. Should I be worried? Is this just a stress reaction? What should I do?

This is common with dogs who are afraid in general, it's not usually a real aggressive reaction, it is a scared reaction. she was lucky to end up with a scratch only but next time it could obviously be worse. in some cases professional training can help building their confidence and this could solve future incidents like this one.
