My puppy has white worms in poop. Is it dangerous? What should I do?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. These are tapeworms and they come from your pet ingesting a flea or eating another pets poop that has live tapeworms in it. It is contagious to other pets and people via ingestion of a live worm. You will need tapeworm specific dewormer such as Drontal or Praziquantel to rid this worm and a good flea preventative (Bravecto, Nexgard, Firstshield) is recommended. Usually tapeworms are gone after the first treatment as long as puppy doesn't get reinfected. I hope this is helpful! Take care now.

Immediate flea treatment and gastrointestinal parasite treatment is required. Panacur is an excellent product, active against most common gastrointestinal parasites and safe for puppies as well. Thanks for reaching out about Peanut. Intestinal parasites (including worms) are fairly common in aquatic turtles. The best thing to do would be to present him and some feces, to a veterinarian for examination and to run a fecal examination. Identification of the parasite will suggest a treatment plan. Some of the worms seen in the aquaria are not pathogenic and live/breed on detritus in the water, but is suggestive of non-ideal water quality. Good luck.

I would recommend deworming him tomorrow and as a precaution, deworming all other pets and humans in the household is rcommended following the introduction of a new pup. Worm eggs need to be ingested in order to be transmitted so hands should be washed after handling the pup (at all times) and especially before eating. I would never recommend allowing a dog to lick people on the face as there is a small risk they may have worm eggs (or bacteria) in and around their mouth which they could transmit to people

If the white specks in his poo look like grains of rice or sesame seeds then it is likely your dog has tape worm. ask your vet to treat your puppy for the parasites he diagnosed via a fecal sample (if he has not done a fecal sample, take some fresh poop to your vet for a fecal exam). You may also want to start with flea prevention as tape worm is transmitted by fleas.

Those are roundworms which are easily treated with a product against gastrointestinal parasites that you can buy on prescription at your local veterinarian. Hard/swollen nipples cannot be caused by these parasites. Tapeworms are typically associated with fleas. There are over the counter deworming medications that can be used for tapeworms but if the fleas are not addressed as well the tapeworms will return. With a puppy that young most topical flea treatments are not appropriate but bathing with Dawn dish soap may help remove the fleas on your puppy currently.
