I have been informed that my chihuhua puppy has a umbilical hernia. The breader has never had a pup with this before. Dose this mean it's not heredity? Her vet said its small and soft so will shrink? I'm concerned as I haven't come across this before and had no intention on having him done.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding your potential new puppy. An umbilical hernia can be surgically repaired. However, it is typically a congenital problem. So you would not want to breed her as the condition could be propagated. I hope this information helps!
