Puppy has a sore on his shoulder. Is it an old injury or from grooming?

However, it would still be a good idea to have him evaluated by a veterinarian to look at it more closely in case it is deeper than what it looks like. Also, these can be painful and can get infected so your veterinarian could potentially start antibiotics and pain control medications. If superficial, these wounds tend to respond well to therapy and heal relatively quickly. Good luck and have a good night!

It appears to be a callus or a scab. I would keep an eye on this area for the next 7 days and if it changes (gets bigger, becomes swollen, is painful, discharge is evident) then I would recommend having a veterinarian examine this so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. You can try to shave around it and clean it. If it continues to look superficial (as it looks on the picture), you can consider applying a thin film of triple antibiotic on it in case it is just a mild infection. If it does not resolve within 1 week of starting such treatment, have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Good luck and have a good night!

I am afraid that this is an open wound and will require further local therapy with debridement, cleaning, stitches, antibiotics and pain control medications. I recommend that you have Coco evaluated by a veterinarian as soon as possible for further assessment and treatment as these wounds are painful and can get infected easily. Good luck!

An examination would be really helpful in determining what is the most likely cause. Since it has already started improving, I would recommend you continue monitoring this.
