Puppy has a soft, watery bump on shoulder. What should I do?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Tootsie! I would worry it is an abscess. The skin looks red and bruised and the "water" you feel may be puss. Since Tootsie is so young that makes him more fragile than older puppies, meaning he may deteriorate quickly. I suggest you take him to the Vet for an exam and if they think it is an abscess then antibiotics can be provided. I hope this helps and I wish you all the best!

It could be that Tucker has a cyst on top of his head. I would give the vet a call to make an appointment to have this checked out. If he does have a cyst, the vet can drain it in a sterile manner, and may want to do surgery to remove the cyst sac to prevent it from reoccurring. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

The lump needs to be checked and analysed as there are many conditions and types of tumors that could look like that. take Charlie to the vet, they will perform a fine needle aspiration on the growth and send it to the lab for analysis. when the result comes, the vet will advise what needs to be done according to the diagnosis.

My hunch tells me it is likely a sebaceous gland cyst (benign tumor); however, it is always best to get masses tested through your vet to be sure. Masses like this are often removed during another surgical procedure, such as a teeth cleaning. I would not be too worried at this point. It may be a benign cyst. But I would make an appointment with your veterinarian at your earliest convenience. They can examine this bump and may aspirate it (poke it with a small needle) and look at the cells under the microscope to determine what it is. Hope all turns out just fine!

From your description it sounds like Cocoa has a ruptured cyst or possibly an abscess. Poodles and other dogs with "hair-like" coats are more prone to cyst formation. Most do not rupture, but occasionally they can become infected or inflammed and ruptured. If the area becomes red, irritated, continues to to have discharge or if Cocoa begins licking or scratching at the area, she should be seen by your veterinarian.

Hi there and thank you for posting this question. Pimple type growths can be a sign of a skin infection, mites, or even a tick bite reaction. If there is just one area and it improves daily then it is unlikely to be problematic. However, if you are feeling multiple areas, if you see fleas or ticks, or if it is not resolving then I would become more concerned.
