Can I get puppy shots at Petco and what food is best for my new dog?

Here is what needs to happen: bring a stool sample and any records you were given to your first Vet visit, Rio will get his next DHPP vaccine 3-4 weeks after his first one was given by the breeder. If the breeder did not start his vaccines he needs to start them by 7-8 weeks of age. Petco will start them for you and tell you when you need to return. They get about 3-4 DHPP vaccines 3-4 weeks apart. The Rabies vaccine is given around 4 months of age, depending on the laws in your county. I hope this helps and I wish you and Rio the best!

Yes they will give all the vaccinations he needs at PetCo. He will need two more sets of booster shots to be fully protected. They will give you a schedule for his booster vaccinations and discuss flea, tick and heartworm products if they are recommended in your area. You can also get a microchip at PetCo. Unfortunately, there are no veterinary clinics located in Petco stores in your area - yet. You can get vaccinations done at Vetco vaccination clinics, as well as heartworm and flea and tick prevention. Be sure you get Tars in before he is 6 months of age, and he won't need a heartworm test. He should also be dewormed against intestinal parasites. Expect accidents, they are going to happen. Since dogs thrive on routine, start a consistent schedule for potty breaks; first thing in the morning, midday, evening and before bedtime to begin with. They are possibly the same, but I cannot tell you as I do not know what vaccines your vet gave your puppy. I suggest you finish the basic vaccinations with your present vet to ensure your puppy is properly protected. Ask your vet for vaccination record and then you can take that to the PetCo clinics for the vet there to determine the necessary boosters.

I always recommend having a good relationship with a vet so that they can follow your puppy's growth and medical issues over time. Sticking with PetCo isn't an issue, since these clinics are run by vets.
