Is my new puppy's purplish belly a sign of a health issue?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

I am getting a new Cocker Spaniel puppy in about 5 weeks. The lady that has her has told me that her belly is purplish color. The other two male puppies gave a pinkish color. She has call her vet and sent a picture and she was told that it is just the pigment color of her. Should I be concerned??

The picture shows skin that has a pink tint to it on my screen. But a purplish color could indicate issues with anemia or the red blood cells. I would recommend that the breeder have the puppy examined by a vet to see if it is significant. A CBC and examination of a blood smear will help determine if there are any red blood cell abnormalities.
