My puppy bites my ankles. How do I stop this painful teething?

Hi, thanks for using PetCoach! Dogs teeth until about 6-8 months. Do you have some time to go. I would work on training and not using your hands to play with him. Stop playing when he gets nippy and re-direct with an appropriate toy or put him in time out. With Typsy's age she is currently teething. When Typsy bites you I would tell her no and swap your hand out with something she can chew on like a toy. At pet stores or online you can find toys that are great for teething. I would also make sure when playing with her you are not using your hands, instead make sure you are using toys. With training her, if you are looking for potty training tips I would recommend crate training. The crate should be small enough for her to stand up, turn around and lay down. I would take her outside and see if she goes to the bathroom and if she does then keep her out and watch her 100%. When you have to turn your back I recommend putting her back in the crate. If you take her outside and she does not go to the bathroom then I recommend putting her back in the crate. If you find an accident just clean it up and don't say anything. If you catch her in the act then I recommend telling her no and then taking her outside to go to the bathroom and praise her when she goes. It could be that Littleboy is nipping at people's ankles out of fear or frustration, and this type of biting can indicate problems with aggression. If he's looking stiff, pulling back his mouth to show his teeth, and has tension in his face, then Littleboy's biting is aggressive and not playful. In that case, I'd recommend having him seen by a professional behavioral expert. Aggression is a difficult and dangerous behavior to train, and that's best left to a professional for safety reasons. I'd speak to your vet about a referral to one. If Littleboy's body and face is relaxed and there's no tension in his body, then he is playing. This behavior you can work with him at home.
