Why does my puppy attack my other dog after walks or when I come home?

It sounds like Harper is potentially fearful of other dogs on walks and because she cannot react to them she acts aggressively towards her housemate instead. You may need to separate the dogs on walks for awhile to make sure your other dog stays safe. Behavior training can help with leash aggression: you would work on keeping Harper focused on you by offering small treats whenever another dog passes. I would recommend having a behaviorist help you - ask your veterinarian for recommendations. You should also watch Harper closely for other signs of aggression - fear based aggression can be progressive and dogs that previously were not aggressive with housemates can become aggressive in these situations.

Try separating them for a day or so, then taking them for a walk together. I hate to hear that about Cooper. Canine aggression is a complex behavior as it can stem from dominance, possessiveness, fear, anxiety , resource guarding or a combination. Pets can also shift around within the pack hierarchy. Being overly aggressive may be a sign that Cooper is uncomfortable in his current pack role. Unless you are very familiar with reading canine body language and training, I recommend to work with a professional trainer. Familiarizing yourself with canine body language and dog training can help you to recognize what your pet is trying to say before a bite happens. You can find many books written on the topic. One thing you can do at home is to give Cooper (and all the dogs would benefit as well), lots of exercise, routine and structure. A physically tired dog typically has less behavioral issues. Dogs also tend to thrive in a controlled environment. This can be a tough situation. You may want to separate the dogs any time you are not home to avoid injuries. I do not think it is anything you are specifically doing wrong. As dogs age they can have a change in personality but it is important to start training to turn this behavior around. IT sounds like she is scared and having some anxiety. I would recommend starting with basic commands like sit, stay and come. I also would recommend getting her in training classes so you can start to redirect her behavior. Once she starts feeling more confident it most likely will help with her behavior around other dogs. i hope that helps

This is a very serious and potentially dangerous issue - I strongly recomend you consult a professional behaviorist for help in dealing with this before she injures somenone. In the meantime, purchase a muzzle and ensure whe is wearing it during walks or any other flashpoints to prevent her from bting and try to change your route or routine in order to avoid flashpoints

Puppies can be very rambunctious, and may not yet understand "dog language" so it could be that your older dogs are attempting to teach her appropriate boundaries. Appropriate body language behaviors saying things are "too much" can include showing teeth, low growling or snapping at the air around your puppy. If Elly backs off at this point, she is actually learning to read those signals and not escalate the behavior. However, if it is escalating to full bites, or your puppy continues to pester the dogs even if they've told her off, it is time to step in and give everyone a time out. Removing Elly from the situation completely in either a crate for some time out with a toy, or in a different room can help. Puppies are VERY full of energy, so extra walks or a puppy kindergarten class where she can interact with other dogs her age and size can help her learn to interact safely while burning excess energy. Once she is vaccinated, the dog park can be a place to go, but it is best that she knows how to properly interact with and respond to "dog language" prior to going so a fight doesn't start. If you are concerned that things are getting bad between all the dogs, it is best to keep them separated at all times unless under close supervision, and to contact a local trainer or behaviorist in your area that can help you in person.
