How to prevent multiple pitbulls from fighting when home alone?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 50 lbs

This isnt a medical question, I just need advice.. I have 4 pitbulls. 2 boys & 2 girls. & i wont have anyone to watch them while I'm at work for 10 hours. They are all fixed, but I'm worried about them maybe fighting while I'm away. What is the best resolution? Should I keep the boys & the girls seperate? Or a medication I could get them to keep them calm? Please let me know if you can help!

There is no medication which would be recommended to sedate them whilst you are away - all sedatives and tranquilisers come with risks. Crating them individually would be the safest option. There is no way for us to predict the safest pairs - you may have an idea from their day to day interactions which are better friends and may be ok together unsupervised (two females or two males are probably most likely to fight). Avoid any flashpoints such s food or chew toys unless crated as these often trigger fights
