My pregnant dog has swollen legs, isn't eating or peeing. What to do?

Usang sounds like she us very ill and I recommend you have her seen by a veterinarian immediately. She may be dealing with edema, but there could be many reasons for the edema ( including infection, tumours, trauma, endocrine or autoimmune disease, etc) and the fact that she is not eating and unwilling/unable to stand and walk indicates severe illness. Please have her seen by a vet right away so they can examine her and recommend diagnostics and treatment as needed to help prevent further suffering.

You can find significant fluid retention in dogs near birthing time. It is similar to the swelling you see in human's feet. If she seems to be unwell or off form I would consider a vet visit as a precaution to check her hear and blood pressure. Most likely it is just a bit of retention due to the pressure on her lymphatic system.

You need to get your dog to a veterinarian right away. Something serious is going on causing this dramatic of a change in her behavior and appearance. This could be a sign of a serious infection, systemic disease, or cancer.

I would recommend taking her to your veterinarian to have her examined. It's possible that she has gastroenteritis, an infection, or any number of other diseases. Your veterinarian can take her temperature and may recommend an ultrasound to check the puppies' heart rates and make sure they are not in distress. I typically recommend feeding a high quality puppy food to pregnant dogs, but your veterinarian might recommend trying a higher calorie therapeutic diet. Good luck!

I am pretty concerned about what you describe. The bloating and edema of the legs would most commonly be due to a low protein level in the blood or right heart failure which causes fluid to leak out of vessels. This can happen for several reasons : heart disease, heartworm disease, liver failure, kidney disease, intestinal disease, and even cancer. Poor Pepper! The slight shaking can be a sign of pain, and if the leg looks swollen and she's lethargic, I would be concerned that she is in pain. The swollen leg can indicate an injury or an infection. I know it's Sunday in New Zealand, but there are vet clinics who are open for regular hours today here. I would take her into a vet today to have her leg examined and treated. Please do not give her any human pain medications, as many are toxic to dogs and can be fatal if given. If you absolutely cannot find an open vet clinic today, rest her. No running, jumping, or playing. Take her out to toilet on a lead only, and bring her right back in when she's done. Then take her into the vet first thing Monday. Find an ER vet if her leg becomes very swollen, she becomes very lethargic, and/or she stops eating. Good luck, I hope this helps!

Her front leg looks very swollen. This cow needs to be seen by a vet asap to ascertain what is wrong with her leg and get appropriate treatment. It is important to let a vet treat her as the wrong medication could kill her calve, likewise if she is in pain the stress could effect her calve.
