Is peppermint oil spider repellent safe for dogs in my apartment?

Hello. Most recipes I have seen recommend using 5 drops of peppermint oil to 16 oz water & a dash of soap, so check to make sure 10 drops will not be too strong for you. Just fill the bottle 1/2 way, add the 10 drops & see how it smells. If too strong, just fill the bottle the rest of the way with water. I do not think this will be a problem to any of your cats as long as the spray has a chance to dry before letting your cats back into the room. You can use the stronger dilution outdoors with no issues, but indoors, check to see how your cats react in just one area after the spray has dried. Cats are especially sensitive to peppermint oil, and if ingested, it can caused GI upset, central nervous system depression, and even liver damage if enough is ingested. I would not allow Kiki in your room at all at the moment, and to be safe, I would wash your bedding before allowing her back in. In the future, refrain from using peppermint oil.

No, in a dog this size a drop of peppermint oil will not do any harm. Generally I would not put oil onto ticks as they get stressed and then regurgitate blood back into the dog and with it any bacteria or viruses they may carry. It is better to use a tick-preventative such as Bravecto or any of the spot-ons that prevent fleas and ticks. A Serestro collar also will work. You may want to wash the spot where you put the peppermint oil with a little bit of soap and water. so Samuel Jebediah does not lick the oil off. As I said, there should be no harm done. I would watch for vomiting within the next few hours. If that happens, you may want to take him to a vet for a check-up.

Peppermint is not "bad" or toxic to dogs. They can eat the plant and sometimes do when they don't feel well. The problem with adding oil to water is that they don't mix adequately. The oil will float on the surface of the water. When Toby drinks, he may get undiluted oil which may irritate his lips, tongue, throat and gums. It may also cause stomach upset such as vomiting or diarrhea. Adding oil to his water would not be recommended.

Yes. Remove the peppermint oil and clean any spots where it was applied. Peppermint essential oil can be toxic or harmful to cats. Consider an electronic pest repeller and seal any holes or cracks that would allow rodents to enter. Steel wool can be used to prevent them from chewing through.
