Orijen dog food and heavy metals: Is it still safe for my dog?

I really like Science Diet, Royal Canin and Purina as these are all good companies that conduct research on their diets. Any of those would work well for Milo as they are of high quality. These are well-known brands that are stocked in veterinary hospitals, and are AAFCO formulated to be balanced and appropriate. I recommend avoiding grain-free, boutique diets from other brands, as these are not regulated and often are do not have balanced nutrients. I hope this is helpful!

Hello. First, Hill's Science Diet & Royal Canin are two of the most respected dog nutritional companies in the world. They have the veterinary scientists & research dollars to innovate, create & stand behind their products that are used to help fight disease & metabolic problems in our pets. If all you are interested in is basic nutrition, then all the other pet food manufacturers are more than adequate, as long as they have the AAFCO statement on their label. But if you have a pet with liver disease, kidney failure, diabetes, gastrointestinal problems or any other number of health defining issues, be very glad we have these companies looking & innovating ways to keep our pets as healthy as possible. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! If you are set in between these two, I would recommend Fromm gold that has grain. Keep in mind that grain free diets are not recommended as it has been shown that they can result in heart disease. Best of luck!

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! As long as it is a good quality diet, these levels are usually kept to a minimum to the point that it is ok to eat it longterm. I recommend brands such as Royal Canin, Purina and Science Diet. Good luck and have a good night!

In my personal opinion Orijen is the best commercial food on the market or at the very least a top 5 food, i have been using it for my pets for many years and have been recommending it for years as well.

I personally like Royal Canin, Hill's Science diet, Purina ProPlan, and Iams. I have fed Royal Canin and Iams to my pets (cats and dogs), and have found them to be excellent food for them. They will all have a giant breed formula. Acana and Orijen are good brands, but they are quite expensive.
