What's the right Omega 3 supplement dosage for my 21-pound dog?

I would not recommend this strength for a chihuhua and recommend either a smaller strength capsule such as viacutan or a liquid supplement which you can measure more accurately. Excess of any supplementation is undesirable and he would be effectively receiving 3-4 times the recommended amount

Yes, that is fine to give once a day. I recommend a maximum of 750 mg of fish oil per 10 lbs of body weight in a dog. That brand if fine to give. You actually want to look at the eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) amounts. Aim for a combined 100mg per kilogram of dog's weight, which would be 400 mg total per day for Charlotte. Start with just 100mg and slowly work up to the full dose. The main side effect that you can see, that would require a lower dose, is diarrhea.
