What's the best food for my Great Dane puppy? Is Blue Buffalo okay?

Is blue buffalo a good Great Dane puppy food? Or what is the best food for my Dane puppy without coming too much out of pocket for a small bag.

I personally do not recommend Blue Buffalo for any dog for a number of reasons. This is a food that has no quality control, which the company had admitted. They don't own their own factories, so they pay someone else to make their food and therefore do not have any control as to what does and doesn't go into their food. Many of my colleagues have reported dogs on BB having the worse gas they have ever experienced. I recommend feeding a brand such as Royal Canin, Hill's Science diet, Purina ProPlan, or Iams. Purina ProPlan and Dams would be the cheaper options of these four brands. I hope this helps :-)

Bailey is adorable! This is a great question, and I would always recommend Purina over Blue Buffalo. I personally do not like Blue Buffalo, same as many of my colleagues. The problem with BB is that they do not own their own factories, so they hand their recipes over to another company to make their food, therefore leading to no quality control over their food. They have admitted this. In addition, BB has caused terrible gas in many animals who have been fed it. There are four brands I highly recommend because they have quality control and veterinary nutritionists on staff to make sure their food recipe is balanced and meeting the needs of dogs. They are Royal Canin, Hill's Science diet, Purina ProPlan, and Iams (Eukanuba). I highly recommend feeding one of these brands in the puppy formula for Bailey. I hope this helps :-)

Unfortunately, there is no one "best" food for any dog regardless of breed. The "best" food while satisfy three criteria: 1) it is easy to buy 2) your dog will eat it 3) it does not give your dog diarrhea or has any other negative health effects.
If there was one perfect food, it wouldn't matter if Kalei wouldn't eat it. Choose a BB formula and stick with it. Monitor her weight and body condition and adjust the amount, up or down, if she losing or gaining too much weight. Read the labels choose diets with quality ingredients and named protein sources while avoiding meat meals or by products. The website www.dogfoodadvisor.com is an excellent resource for comparing diets.

You can ask 3 different vets and probably get 3 different answers when it comes to food recommendation; however, I personally am not a fan of Blue Buffalo because of their high protein content and also their unwillingness to list their complete ingredient list to AAFCO. I trust a couple of brands including Royal Canin (by far my favorite), Hills Science Diet, and California Natural (Innova). I would recommend either of those and it has to be puppy large breed until Timmy turns 1 year of age, at which point he can be switched to the adult food. Purina puppy is ok and is a little lower on the list of high quality brands to choose from. Iams is a step above the Purina in my personal opinion.

What a gorgeous pup! Great Dane puppies have a massive requirement for nutrients so I recommend investing in feeding a really good quality food for giant breed puppies. Royal canin does a really good puppy food which I trust for my own dogs. Don't listen to things like not feeding puppy food, there is no evidence for that. It is actually really important to feed puppy food because a puppy has different needs to an adult. Energy level has more to do with the carbohydrate in the feed rather than protein.

What's the best food for Great Dane puppies when starting mush?

I would recommend using a large breed puppy food. This type of diet will have the specific balance of minerals and vitamins needed for young, growing puppies. Since Danes are a giant breed, their nutrional needs are different than your typical puppy. Some of the brands I usually recommend include Hills, Purina, Royal Canin, Eukanuba, and Iams. I'm not very familiar with Drools food, but Purina is probably a better food since it meets WSAVA guidelines (see link below for more information). My large breed puppy won't eat Blue Buffalo. What food is best?

This is a great question, especially because there are so many food options out there for puppies! Several brands of food including Hill's Science Diet, Royal Canin, and Purina One are often preferred. These companies do a lot of research and quality control to ensure their foods meet strict nutritional standards so I would recommend one of these brands for Sixx. What's the best large breed puppy food for a picky Great Dane?

Hello! I would recommend feeding her a large breed puppy food for the first 1.5 to 2 years of life. I like the brands Purina, Royal Canin, and Hill's. A diet specifically made for large breeds will be the best for her bone growth. You can try to make kibble more enticing by adding warm water or low sodium chicken broth. I do not recommend any grain free or raw diets as they are clinically associated with nutritional problems in dogs. I hope this is helpful! Is raw food safe for Great Dane puppies, or is dry kibble better?

I actually prefer commercial dog food as it includes the proper balance of nutrition that they need. A lot of raw food diets don’t have the proper studies to back it up and they don’t have the proper nutrients in them. Also, dogs who eat raw food diet are st higher risk for bacterial infections like salmonella. I think as long a syou are giving a high quality large breed or giant breed puppy food like science diet, Iams, or royal canin then he should grown normally. I hope this helps!
