My 8-month-old German Shepherd is small. Is her growth normal?

You can always proceed with the DNA test to check the breed which is available online. I would encourage you to have him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment to check for possible reasons of his perceived lack of growth. I am wondering if she could be a different breed then you were told if you feel she is so small. As long as she isn't sick then it is just her and she may not get so big. If Shera is only 4kg at this age, I would suspect something is preventing him from gaining weight. I would recommend having him examined by a veterinarian and have him checked for intestinal parasites and treated for parasites. He may have a congenital disease such as a liver shunt or some other systemic disease going on that needs to be treated. The sooner he is seen the better. Hello. Good care is all you can do for Kyra. At 2 months of age, she still has the potential to reach her potential maximum growth. Feed her the best large breed puppy food you can purchase. Do not supplement her with any vitamins or minerals. Deworm her based on a veterinarian's analysis of her stool & make sure she receives all appropriate vaccinations at the appropriate times. I can't really compare the size of the front and back legs from the angle of the picture. The way she is sitting it is also hard to see her conformation or body size. Some dogs can have stunted growth as compared to other dogs in the litter from being the runt, having a congenital disorder (like a liver shunt), intestinal parasites, or from poor nutrition. I recommend that you have Sandie checked out by a vet who will be able to look at her bone size, body weight, body condition, and can perform testing to see if there is something to be done to help her catch up.

There are genetic endocrine issues like hypothyroidism that can stunt growth but that is exceeding rare. It’s hard to say if it will affect her life span without knowing if her stunted growth is from a medical condition. Next time you take her to the Vet have them look in to it. I wish you the best!
