Why won't my 2-year-old German Shepherd eat her food and gets sick?

Not wanting to eat can be a sign of nearly any sort of illness, ranging from a simple upset stomach to much more serious conditions involving multiple organ systems. It's encouraging that she will eat out of your hands, but if this is not usually how she eats than I would say that she should be assessed by a veterinarian. A thorough physical exam might help reveal a problem if one is present. As far as things you can do at home to assess the situation, you can obtain a rectal temperature (above 102.5 or below 99.0 is considered abnormal), check the gum lines for paleness / dryness, and check the skin for hydration. The possibilities arenumerous and a vet would have to examine him in order to narrow it down. It would be best to have a vet evaluate Rex first to make sure he is healthy before assuming other reasons for the lack of appetite. It's also possible that Rex is getting other food that he likes better than milk and chapati. Dogs will often shift their eating habits if they know that there will be better food available. It is possible if you switched Joys food suddenly it could cause vomiting and sever gastric upset. However if Joy is still not wanting to eat I would take her the vet for possibly a fecal and abdominal x-rays. It is possible Joy has parasites, severe gastritis or a foreign body blocking her intestines. You can try a bland diet of boiled chicken and white rice for 12-24 hours is small amounts. However, if Joy continues to vomit, not eat or acts lethargic he really should go to a vet

I would take her to a vet in the morning, where they will perform a full physical exam to check for any sources of pain or discomfort. They may also recommend blood tests or x-rays depending on what is found and what her other symptoms are. Hopefully with these, they will be able to find out the cause of her anorexia. In the meantime, I would try offering her a small homemade meal of plain boiled chicken and rice. Differentials are many, from gastrointestinal diseases (infection/inflammations often dietary related) to any disease that can spread systemically (causing lethargy for example) like infection, and anything that can cause pain/discomfort. The approach must be logic, starting from offering different kind of food. A check up is needed if inappetence lasts for more than 24hours.
