My German Shepherd has calluses and irritated skin. Is it serious?

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Female | unspayed

Our six year old German Shepherd has developed calluses under a lot of her armpits, and around her vaginal area. Her nipple is also seemingly very irritated and black. I don't know if this is really serious but it looks bad. What can I do about this? Is it serious?

Based on the photos and your description, this could certainly be due to a bacterial or fungal infection. I would recommend having a veterinarian take a look at this so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. 1. Douxo PS Chlorhexidine combination shampoo and bathe twice weekly until resolved

2. Malacetic conditioning spray and apply to the affected areas twice daily until resolved

Both of the above products can be found online quite easily.

What can I do for my German Shepherd's scabby skin under fur?

Hello. Willow may have a bit of dermatitis going on. I would recommend bathing her in a Benzoyl Peroxide based shampoo which you can find at most pet retailers & online. Follow the directions by making sure you leave the lather on for 10 minutes before rinsing. Repeat twice a week until the skin heals ( which may take several weeks of bathing ). If the skin does not seem to be healing, she may have allergies or require antibiotics, but a medicated shampoo often will clear up these minor issues. My German Shepherd puppy has itchy, flaky skin. Is it serious?

It looks like Sam may have a bit of a skin infection. The itchiness may be from allergies, mites or some type of irritation. I would recommend bringing Sam to a veterinarian to have them fully evaluate his skin. He may need an antibiotic, shampoo and antihistamines to help. My German Shepherd has itchy sores on his back and genitals. Why?

It is hard to say exactly what the cause of Ben's skin lesions may be due to without examining Ben first, but some possibilities may include a fungal infection, bacterial infection, mites, a food or environmental allergy, or evidence of an underlying endocrine disorder such as Cushing's disease or a thyroid problem. Your veterinarian can diagnose these potential conditions with a fungal culture, skin scraping, and some blood work. I would recommend Ben visit another veterinarian or perhaps a board certified veterinary dermatologist soon to have the possibilities above ruled out and a definitive diagnosis made so he can get the most appropriate treatment. Marshal needs to have this area shaved and scrubbed. Depending on what it looks like after would depend on if just antibiotics are needed and maybe a biopsy if the medications have not worked in the past. What is this scab or bump on my 3-month-old German Shepherd puppy?
