My French Bulldog keeps collapsing and turning blue. What's wrong?

Poor guy. Bruce is very ill and in need of medical care. His symptoms are suggestive of a viral infection (Parvovirus if he was not fully vaccinated), bacterial infection or undelrying organ malfunction (pancreas, kidneys, etc). He needs a proper exam and bloodwork analysis to a start and try to narrow down the possibilities and get a proper diagnosis. He also need supportive care treatment such as anti-nausea medicaiton, fluids, and anything else that will treat his specific condition. I would discuss with the veterinarian the possibility of brachycephalic airway syndrome. This is a disorder of breeds such as French bulldogs which can result in regular vomiting and regurgitation due to unnatural pressures within their body, as they struggle to breathe through small nostrils and a long soft palette. The vomiting you described sounds normal. Vomit only contains what is in the stomach at the time, so as the vomiting continues there will be less and less available, hence the color changes. First, I would look around the house and yard to see if there is anything that you can find that Cooper may have gotten into or eaten. Look carefully at plants, small things, destroyed things, or missing contents of a trash can. If you don't find anything, then I would remove all food for 12 hours, but encourage him to drink water or pedialyte. If the vomiting continues in a few hours, I would recommend that Cooper be evaluated by an emergency vet to see what could be going on. At the very least, he could get an anti-nausea shot that will help him get some rest tonight. If the vomiting starts again after he eats, if he has a poor appetite, or if he starts having diarrhea, the Cooper should get checked out by a vet tomorrow.

Poor girl. It appears that your fur baby may have a severe stomach upset from something she ate. Other possible causes are toxin ingestion, a severe parasite load, or an infection. Peanuts are not harmful to pets so this is not the issue. I am also not sure what part of her mouth is black. Some pets normally have black colored gums. It is best to take her in to see a vet right away for treatment if her panting continues for more than an hour, because continuous panting signifies that the pet is highly unstable and in need of immediate medical care from an ER vet.

He is a French Bulldog, and some of these breathing problems could be due to the shape of his face. Dogs with the flatter face like him are prone to breathing issues, specifically brachychephalic airway disease. It could also be that he is suffering from allergies, which is why the Benadryl helps for a short period of time. Due to his issues, he needs to see a vet. I would take him into one in the morning. Poor Pierre! The signs you are describing are unlikely to be related to his previously broken leg. It is definitely concerning that he cannot stand, this can be due to ingestion of a toxin (such as human food he should not have or human medications), or a serious intestinal condition such as foreign body obstruction. I recommend having Pierre seen by a vet right away, as he may need stabilization and supportive care. I hope all is well!

So sorry about your dog. Besides it being caused by a seizure disorder, he could have something like laryngeal paralysis, collapsing trachea or be having a syncopal (fainting) episode from a heart problem. You could try to record one so your vet can see exactly what is happening. If the episodes continue and your vet is not able to control them, ask for a referral to a specialist for more testing. It might be a good idea to take a chest x-ray, have an ultrasound of his heart, and/or examination of his throat to look for laryngeal paralysis. Hope he gets better soon!
