My dog is wet. Will flea dirt appear red or stay black on his fur?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Would flea dirt have an obvious color change enough that i wouldn't have to question it? Plus my dog was wet already so I feel like it would've already been red when I took the dirt off of him and not stark black.

Yes, it would have been an obviously color change, and you are correct that since your dog was already wet when you took the dirt off of him, it would have had a reddish tint then and not be stark black. Rest assured it was good old regular dirt.
