Why does my female dog have blood clot-like lumps on her nipples?

I would continue to monitor is for any sudden changes. It should definitely get checked out by a vet in the next few days. Possible causes for this include mammary tumors, tumors not related to the mammary system, infection, or mammary hyperplasia. If it gets suddenly bigger or there is any discharge, I would see a vet sooner.

Hello. This is probably benign mammary hyperplasia, but you do want to have this looked at, especially if she has been spayed. If she has not been spayed & has never been with a male dog, then this could be related to a false pregnancy. Also, has she been in contact with anyone who is on hormone replacement therapy? Sometimes, this can rub off on a pet & cause mammary enlargement. If no outside cause can be found, then have her spayed if that has not already been done, & submit a biopsy to see exactly what is going on with the tissue. Oh no, poor Maddie! It's very concerning that blood is coming out of her nipple and she should have suffering an injury or infection causing the lump and the blood. I would have her seen by a vet for this as soon as possible. The vet can diagnose what is causing her symptoms so she can be treated.

Anytime a new mass is noticed, I always recommend having it evaluated to see what it is and if anything needs to be done about it. Unfortunately, we can't tell anything about a mass by just looking at it or feeling it. Your vet can perform a simple test called a fine needle aspirate where they use a small needle to collect some cells from the mass, then look at them under the microscope. They may even need to send the cells to the lab for a pathologist to examine them, so we know what the mass is. If it is benign, you might not need to do anything about the mass at all, but if they see cells that worry them, they might recommend removing the mass. Thank you for the picture of Shiva's lump, it's very helpful! I'm wondering based on it's location if that is one of her nipples, but it's hard to tell from the picture. It may also be a benign lump. I don't know her age, but if she is an older dog, there is always a chance it could be something more serious like a malignant lump. I do think you should get it checked out by a vet to be safe. It is possible that what you are seeing is a normal vein, a vein with a blood clot, or a bruise. If there is blood coming from the nipples, I recommend that Bonnie be examined by a vet as this would indicate that there is bleeding going on within the milk duct system and is highly abnormal. There could be infection, trauma, or a bleeding/clotting disorder causing this to happen.

Yes, I would be worried about Loca. In a senior dog, a large lump could potentially be a malignant tumor. Bloody nipples are also not normal, and she could have hurt herself or may have mammary tumors causing the bloody nipples. Best thing to do is have her seen by a vet in the morning.
