Puppy playtime & feeding: How much for an underweight growing pup?

It is possible you are feeding too large a volume per meal, i recommend feeding smaller meals less often. Early socialization is important but ONLY with regularly vaccinated, healthy dogs. Do not encourage any hand/foot chasing or tug of war games as these can encourage play biting

There is not much you can do other than to ensure good nutrition and health from this moment forward. I would recommend starting a high quality puppy food. In addition you want to make sure that they are up to date on vaccines per your veterinarian. They should be dewormed at least twice. Finally, you should endure they are on flea prevention and heartwo preventative if endemic in your area. All of these things should improve their overall condition. I also recommend neutering between 6-8 months. Good luck!

Most foods will have feeding instructions on the side of the bag according to your pet's weight and age, so you can use that as a starting gauge for how much to give. Puppies should generally be fed at least 2-3 times a day, and if your pup isn't gaining weight well, increasing the food amount and having your vet check for any issues such as parasites or illness which could impede weight gain is best.

Be sure to keep him dewormed monthly for at least 3 months and feed him up gradually, I would tend to feed at the feeding guideline for his actual weight plus 15-20%, reassessed every 14days in order to encourage gradual weight gain and strength whilst allowing his system to adjust. A probiotic/fiber supplement such as fortiflora can be helpful to promote healthy digestive balance also

I'm not sure what you mean by a diet chart, however for his young age I recommend following the recommendations on the back oft he food bag. When he's an adult, you want feed about 75% of what the bag suggests for his weight. Diets vary greatly in the number of calories they have per cup, so it's hard to make an across the board recommendation. I recommend checking out Purina, Hills, and Royal Canin to get you started for diets. He should be on a puppy diet until about 9 months of age. He should NOT be on a grain free diet (this is a fad born out of the human gluten-free fad and recent research is showing it may be harmful for dogs, in addition to be unnecessary). As far as exercise, start anything you do slowly. He shouldn't be going for jogs until he's about 9 months old, but can run on his own as much as he wants and you can slowly work up to longer walks with him as he's interested. I'd recommend paying special attention to mental exercise with food toys, things like "snuffle boards" and kongs -- there are thousands of DIY Ideas online for this. Enjoy your little cutie!

I would suggest getting a good quality puppy food, and feeding him about 75% of the amount recommended on the bag/day for about 3 days, and then increasing to 100% of the amount recommended for about 1 week, and then 125% for a couple weeks until she is proper size. At that point you can cut back to the normal recommended amount. Also, I would recommend deworming her, as this is often a cause of malnutrition, and also make sure she is treated for fleas, and vaccinated. Best of luck with Pluto.

Exercise: as much as Murphy wants! At this age, I don't push them if they seem tired, but offer several small activities throughout the day to help burn off the excess puppy energy. Water: free choice. Leave a bowl out and let Murphy drink when he is thirsty. If he is outside for a while, water should also be available outside. Food: it depends on the food you are feeding and the current weight of the puppy. Hill's large breed puppy is a good choice. There are feeding guidelines on the bag. For 15 pounds and under 4 months of age, Murphy should get 2 cups per day (or 1 cup morning and night). As an emergency vet, I see so many issues with rawhides, it just isn't worth it. Look for toys designed for puppies and their very sharp teeth. I like Starmark toys/treats. Treats should always be given when Murphy is supervised to avoid any disasters. If you haven't already taken Murphy to the vet, now is a good time. He should have already received his first vaccination, and the vet will often discuss health and feeding and behaviors at this first appointment.
