What are early signs of dog obstruction, and how soon do they show?

Given that Snowball has eaten twice since and isn't vomiting, I would monitor her for signs an obstruction to be safe. It can take a couple of days for signs to be seen which include vomiting, anorexia, diarrhea, not pooping, and severe lethargy. If you see any of those signs, take her into a vet right away. Otherwise if you don't see any of those signs, she will be just fine. Best of luck!

Most likely Jax will defecate out the wrapper. However, I agree you should monitor for an obstruction. I would recommend monitoring Jax at home but if at any time he is not eating, vomiting or acting lethargic I would take him to the vet for an x-ray of his abdomen.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Swiss. If she ingested foreign material and is experiencing a blockage, then I would expect her to vomit any food or water consumed. Usually signs of gastric dilatation and volvulus or torsion include retching, extreme lethargy, collapse, pale gums, distended abdomen and inappetence and with an obstruction vomiting is very common. While this is possible, it is unlikely based on what you have described. He could be experiencing inappetence due to conditions such as gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, kidney disease, pancreatitis, among many other possibilities. I recommend that you have Enzo evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment if this does not improve in the next 24 hours. I am not sure what you are describing that he ate. Signs of GI obstruction can include vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, decreased appetite, abdominal pain, etc. If you see these signs, Midnight should be examined by a vet right away.
