This sounds like an abscess or hot spot. You can trim the surrounding fur to let the air in and stop the fur from getting stuck in the discharge. Clean the area with medicated shampoo or antibacterial soap, rinse it off, dry it and then apply a thin film of antibacterial ointment on it.
