My dog has a white spot on her skin, not scratching. What should I do?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | 25 lbs

My dog woke up yesterday morning with some kind of spot on her. She is not scratching at it. But it is whitish in color. It hasn't spread.

It looks like Luna likely has a bacterial infection like a hotspot. The area needs to be protected from scratching and the hair needs to be shaved. Typically antibiotics and anti-inflammatories will clear this right up. Take her in to see her vet.
