My pug has wet hot spots. What can I buy to put on his skin?

It does look like a hot spot, aka moist dermatitis. Ideally, Titus should be examined by your veterinarian for confirmation. He will likely need the area shaved and cleaned. An e-collar (cone). It sounds like your fur baby has what's called a "hot spot". This is an infection on the skin that is typically initially caused by some kind of trauma or nick on the skin. You can try treating this with a topical hot spot spray to see if this gets better within a few days. Clean the area with Betadine diluted 50;50 with warm water and let it air dry first. Shaving the hair also helps b/c hair carries a lot of dirt and debris that can delay healing. IF there is no improvement within 3-4 days, then it is best to get Lola seen by your vet for oral antibiotics to help this heal well. Hey! I would recommend either taking to a veterinarian or clipping the hair. It looks like what we refer to as a hot spot or moist pyoderma. This is a superficial skin infection. You can try medicated shampoos but might need antibiotics from a vet. Most of the time this happens due to an allergy and itchy skin.

This problem could be caused by a mix between chin and skin fold dermatitis usually caused by a bacterial infection. Usually antibiotics and long-term topical care (e.g. medicated wipes and ointments) will prevent this condition from progressing. In your dog’s case oral antibiotics may be indicated. Failure to respond may be due to a resistant infection, so bacterial culture and antimicrobial sensitivity testing may be indicated. A clinical examination at your local veterinarian is essential to confirm this clinical suspicion and treat appropriately. I typically recommend using products that soothe and treat infection. What I would recommend would be Well & Good Hydrocortisone spray (at Petco) and Miconahex + Triz spray and apply both of these twice daily until resolved. If there is no improvement within 7 days, I would recommend taking your dog in to be seen by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. Hello. If his skin is damaged, then you want to use an antibacterial shampoo until the lesions heal. Anything with Benzoyl Peroxide or Chlorhexidine will work well. You will need to probably bathe him every few days, so alternate with a shampoo that has anti-itch properties such as Pramoxine or 1% hydrocortisone. The key to using any medicated shampoo is to make sure you leave the lather on for 10 minutes before rinsing. Finally, you should use a skin barrier preparation that contains ceramides. Allerderm Spot-on by Virbac & Dermoscent Essential 6 Spot-on are 2 highly rated products. Ueing these products along with diet & appropriate medications should make Mumble much more comfortable. Poor boy, this looks very sore! As long as he appears to be well in himself- drinking and eating normally-I think this is down to his sore skin rather than the vaccinations. It looks like he has developed quite bad clipper rash from being clipped short in these areas. You can try gently bathing the areas in warm salty water, then pat them dry and apply a topical wound cream with hydrocortisone and antibiotic in it. I would do this twice a day. You could also give an antihistamine tablet to help with the itch. This does look pretty bad so if the wee pet is in a lot of discomfort or it looks like the skin is getting worse take him in to the vet. He may need some painkillers and oral antibiotics.
