My dog is weak, shaking, and can't walk up steps. Should I worry?

There are many possible causes of lameness and an injectable antibiotic given under the skin would be very unlikely to cause it. Injuries, joint pain from fever, spinal/nerve pain and foreign bodies such as splinters would be more common. A full physical exam and xrays would be recommended and may also determine the cause of the poor appetite and vomiting

A normal dose of Zeniquin is 2.75-5.5 mg/kg, and your puppy ingested 12.2 mg/kg. As an antibiotic, this medication may cause possible transient vomiting, diarrhea, or a loss of appetite. In young puppies given high doses of Zeniquin daily for 2-4 weeks, lameness and cartilage problems were noted in a study, but this would not be expected after a one-time ingestion. At this point, I recommend feeding a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken and white rice for the next few days to decrease stimulation to the GI tract. After a few days of this diet, you can gradually transition back to puppy food over another 5-7 days. If you need additional peace of mind, you can call the ASPCA animal poison control center at (888) 426-4435. Unless they direct otherwise, I cannot see any benefit in giving activated charcoal or other decontaminants after an antibiotic. I hope this helps and that all goes well!

It could be a side effect of convenia but it is more likely to be the ongoing tooth infection, i personally do not like convenia as a treatment for teeth infections i believe there are much better options such as Clindamycin and Amoxyclav that work much better in mild cases (in severe cases the tooth needs to be removed).

I doubt the coughing and the limping are related at all. Call the vet office when you get a chance but I would just recommend resting him for 5-7 days - meaning only going outside on a leash to use the bathroom. No running, jumping, playing or stairs. If after trying this and there is no improvement then he should go back and see the vet.

Convenia is extremely safe. I have been using it for MANY years with not one side effect. Of course side effects are possible with any medication and there is no way to know which animal may or may not react to a certain product. The chance of your dog having a severe reaction is extremely slim. Please be careful reading people's biased information on the internet. Their pet may have had underlying kidney or liver issues prior to the Convenia administration. Their pet may have had a severe underlying condition that caused the death and it had nothing to do with the Convenia. When something goes wrong people always look for something to blame even if there is no direct causation. Please discuss this more with your vet. Thank you for submitting your question regarding Zack. When a dog is unable to walk properly, it can be due to a neurological problem, severe arthritis or even an intoxication. If you do not know of a poison he could have ingested, then this is less likely. Your veterinarian likely gave the steroid injection in hopes of treating a neurological condition. If this treatment helped, then it should be extended with oral steroid pills as well as pain medications and muscle relaxers. Arthritis typically managed with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory pain medication, but these cannot be used in conjunction with steroids. Depending on how he has responded to the treatment will dictate how to move forward. I hope this information helps!

Some people do notice lethargy and difficulty walking with levetiracetam, but in general these side effects improve after a few days to weeks. If Milo's seizures started recently I would also worry that the lethargy and trouble with balance could be signs of neurologic disease. Seizures in an older dog are most commonly related to a lesion in the brain such as a tumor. I would recommend rechecking with your veterinarian to have Milo examined - you may want to discuss additional tests like an MRI to determine a cause for the seizures or discuss alternative anti convulsants.
