My dog is vomiting non-stop all night. Is this an emergency?

Labored breathing and vomiting are very concerning signs. In an older, large-breed dog like your girl, I would be worried about bloat as a possible cause of her symptoms - this can be a life-threatening emergency, so needs to be treated right away. Many other things can also cause vomiting, including pancreatitis, liver or kidney disease, exposure to something toxic, or an intestinal obstruction. Based on your description, I would recommend taking her to the emergency vet tonight - she may have a serious problem that can't wait until morning.

Hi. Poor Bela. Unfortunately there isn't anything we can do from home that will help Bela. If she isn't improving, I would get her in to the ER clinic right away. She will eventually become dehydrated and will most likely need hospitalization. In puppies with vomiting and diarrhea, we worry about parasites, and a viral intestinal infection called parvo. The latter can become very serious without appropriate supportive care and medications. Please contact the emergency clinic or head there as soon as you can.

I am sorry to hear about Bailey! We can occsaionally see pets develop GI problems as a result of stress but this usually results in diarrhea, not vomiting. IF she was vomiting multiple times in one night I would be worried aobut things like ingestion of a foreign object causing a blockage, ingestion of a foreign substance causing GI irritation, infection, pancreatitis, and more. Poor Bella! Parvo is very uncommon in adult dogs, but it's possible that this could be the problem if she was not fully vaccinated as a puppy. It's also possible that she could have some other serious GI illness such as pancreatitis, a systemic illness like liver or kidney disease, or she may have ingested something toxic. If this has been going on for more than 24 hours, or if she is acting weak or lethargic, I would recommend taking Bella to an emergency vet today for an exam - he/she can do blood work and x-rays if needed to help determine the problem and get her started on appropriate treatment.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Bella! How old is Bella? I would not want to to give her vaccines if she is vomiting after she eats. If she vomits EVERY TIME she eats then that is concerning. Causes for vomiting are: intestinal parasites, pyometra (infected uterus which is a surgical emergency), foreign body (something is stuck requiring surgery), dietary indiscretion (ate something gross that is upsetting her stomach), food allergy or intolerance, toxin ingestion, Kidney or liver problems, cancer. Without seeing pictures of her eyes it's hard to say what is going on. Red eyes can be from allergies or an infection but it also could be from glaucoma, a corneal ulcer, uveitis or even be from something internal going on. I highly recommend taking Bella to the Vet for an exam and to discuss all that is going on with her. I hope this helps and I wish Bella the very best!

Clearly, she feels pretty awful. She will absolutely be best off if you take her to a vet right away for anti-nausea meds. This way, he/she can take X-rays and make sure Pippa doesn't have a foreign body somewhere causing a blockage in her system that would require surgery to fix. If you wait, she needs to be getting better and better, feeling more spunky, and slowing way down with the vomiting, or I'd be very concerned.

If Jessi has been vomiting for the past 6 hours uncontrollably it would be best to seek veterinary care immediately. It is possible there is an underlying illness, foreign body or other issue that requires immediate care especially if she's continuing to hack and vomit for several hours.
